North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, Colorado began vaccinating the community in early January by providing COVID-19 vaccinations to local healthcare workers and first responders in the community. This vaccination quickly expanded in mid-January when the hospital started to provide vaccines to seniors ages 70+.

“Getting our 70+ community members vaccinated has been where a majority of our focus has been since mid-January,” said Benjamin Tice, manager of emergency preparedness at North Suburban. “We had great success in vaccinating our healthcare colleagues and were honored to quickly move on to vaccinating the seniors in our community.”

North Suburban provided it’s 2,000th community dose to Samuel Johnson on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Johnson is a Vietnam Veteran from Aurora, Colorado.

“This has been a long time coming, and I’m happy,” said Jonson after receiving the vaccine.

To celebrate, Johnson’s team gathered with balloons to celebrate him and all of the other community members who have received the COVID-19 vaccine at North Suburban Medical Center.

“I feel like we should play ‘Stayin’ Alive’ or something,” said Johnson after the picture. “Thank you all.”
