This class is designed for those who know they will be delivering by cesarean. You will learn about pre-operative preparation, anesthesia, cesarean procedure and post-operative care.

In this class we will practice breathing and relaxation techniques that are designed to reduce stress and improve overall pain control during your cesarean. We will also discuss the postpartum recovery period including household preparations, support systems and realistic expectations for caring for your baby.

This class is best taken between 32-36 weeks of your pregnancy.

This class will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in the Jack Chang Conference Room located at 2001 North High St., Denver, CO.

When you arrive, please park in the parking garage located across the driveway from the RMHC entrance. After entering RMHC, you may take the stairs or the D elevators to the second floor. The Jack Chang Conference Room is located off of the waiting area.

Food and drinks are allowed in the classroom.

Becoming a New Dad is exciting in so many ways, but it can also be overwhelming at times. Boot Camp for New Dads is a highly successful program that prepares Men to become Fathers with confidence. This powerful workshop features veteran Dads that speak frankly about their prospective in parenting adventures.

Topics covered include: troubleshooter’s guide to crying babies, caring for new Moms, birth and bonding, the postpartum experience, and balancing family and career.

This class is best taken between 28 – 36 weeks of pregnancy.

Families that register for this class will typically register for Baby 101: Understanding Your Newborn, and Infant Safety.

There is a $40.00 fee for this class. 

This class will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in the Hummingbird Conference Room located at 2001 North High St., Denver, CO 80218.

Moms, this class will give you the skills to more easily transition to new motherhood, raising a baby, and being a parent with your partner. Some of the things you will learn will be to form a parenting team, create an action plan, bring out the best in your partner, communicate more effectively, empathize with your partners unique perspective and journey through pregnancy, birth and parenthood, and brush off a lot of the judgement new moms face. Veteran moms and their infants share what they have learned and offer tips and advice to Rookie Moms who are expecting their first babies.

This course will discuss the advantages of breastfeeding, breast milk basics (production, supply and demand, etc.), and how to get off to a good start while avoiding some of the common problems. This course will also cover pumping and storing breast milk. It is most helpful to take this class in the third trimester of pregnancy; fathers or partners are encouraged to attend.

This class will meet in the Goodstein Room 3 in the Rose Medical Center located at 4500 E. 9th Avenue, Denver, CO 80220.
 
Located on the Southeast corner of 9th Avenue and Clermont Street. Located in the lower level of the Physician's Office Building.
 
Participants may park in the parking garage free of charge or at the parking meters. Meters are free after 6pm.
 

Cancellations due to early delivery or bed rest will receive a full refund. Cancellations for any other reason will be charged a $25 cancellation fee. All rescheduling requests made within 7 days of the class will have a $25 rescheduling fee applied. Any requests made after the class start date will be reviewed on a case by case scenario.

This includes learning and practicing different nursing positions, proper collection and storage of breast milk, and the latest information on breast pumps.

The decision to breastfeed your newborn impacts the whole family. This class is intended to set the stage for a positive and rewarding experience. In addition to explaining lactation, the class explores:

  • Current techniques and preparations that foster successful breastfeeding
  • How to prepare for returning to the workplace
  • The proper collection and storage and breast milk
  • Tips on proper nutrition and how to maintain your milk supply
  • The benefits of breastfeeding
  • Troubleshooting
  • Developing a breastfeeding support system

This class will be held in Meeting Room 1 at The Medical Center of Aurora located at 1501 South Potomac St, Aurora, CO 80012.

Enter the hospital through the main entrance doors. Classes will be held in meeting room number 1 which is located in the hallway to the left of the coffee kiosk. If you need assistance locating the room ask the concierge located in the lobby.

Each series is a comprehensive 12-hour course offered during the evening for four weeks. These classes focus on five aspects of the birthing process: phases of labor and delivery, comfort strategies, medical procedures, breathing and relaxation conditioning, and the postpartum period. Each series includes a variety of childbirth videos and written materials. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and interact with other class participants. A tour of the Hospital and OB Unit will be included on the last day of each session.

Take our one-hour pre-operative class to learn about how to prepare for your procedure, what to expect after surgery and things you need to do to get ready for your return home. Research has shown that people who know what to expect have less anxiety and a shorter stay in the hospital.

Topics we will cover in the class include pre-surgery exercises, what to take to the hospital, what you can expect during your hospital stay, pain management, after-surgery nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, precautions/limitations after surgery, discharge needs, recommended equipment and home safety.

The birth of your child is a special time and confidence begins here. Our prepared childbirth course will provide you with the knowledge to prepare for the choices you’ll make during your childbirth experience. You and your partner will learn and practice life skills from our nationally certified childbirth instructors including relaxation, effective breathing, massage, positioning, stress management and coping skills. Other subjects include the joys and challenges of pregnancy, labor and how it progresses, medical procedures, interventions, pain management and Cesarean birth. A tour of the birth place is included with the Prepared Childbirth four-week course. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring two pillows and a small blanket.

A rich part of our tradition for being the best hospital in Denver to have a baby is to welcome grandparents into the hospital experience as new parents desire. Now we have a special class, just for grandparents, covering a wide variety of topics and issues on the current practices of safe family centered labor and delivery as well as the current issues couples face in bringing home a newborn and launching parenthood.

Topics include: fertility update; prenatal care and diagnostic assessments; update on hospital labor and delivery and postpartum care; bringing baby home - how grandparents can support new parents best in the first month and then when mom returns to work. This class includes a tour of the labor and delivery deck. Grandparents will leave with confidence on how best to support their children during the amazing and challenging childbearing year. 

This event will be held at Rose Medical Center in the Café South Conference Room located at 4567 East 9th Ave., Denver, CO 80220.
 
The Café South Conference Room is located on the Ground Floor of the hospital.  Take the main elevators down one level and exit the elevators to your left and then take your first left.  Follow the signage down the hall to the classroom. The classroom is three doors down on your left.
 
 Participants may park in the parking garage free of charge or at the parking meters.  The parking meters are free after 6:00 PM.
 

Cancellations due to early delivery or bed rest will receive a full refund. Cancellations for any other reason will be charged a $25 cancellation fee, unless you reschedule your class for a later date. Any requests (cancellation or rescheduling) made after the class start date will be reviewed on a case by case basis and may be subject to a $25 fee.

Your class will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center in the Garden Level Auditorium conveniently located at 10101 RidgeGate Parkway, Lone Tree, CO 80124, at I-25 and Lincoln.

“Smoking – DARE to quit” is a small group support and education program to help you reach your goal of being smoke free.  This physician-reviewed program is based on the latest research and is facilitated by caring, trained Respiratory Care Professionals from Swedish Medical Center.  “Smoking - DARE to quit” (full program) is a four session program that offers tips and tools to help you plan for a successful quit and helps as you begin your new life as a non-smoker.  If you are ready to quit, we are here to help.  Are you ready to accept the challenge?  Each journey begins with a single step.  We are here to help you take that first step.

The cost for this class is $70.00. Swedish employees and Parallon employees based at Swedish qualify for an employee discount by signing an employee discount agreement and meeting the requirements.Employees will pay the full price to register and will be reimbursed $30 after completion of class per agreement (for total class cost to employee of $40).

This event will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center in the Women’s Center Classroom of the Spine and Total Joint Center located at 10101 RidgeGate Pkwy., Lone Tree, CO 80124.

You will check in for your class at Sky Ridge’s Spine & Total Joint Center information desk. The Spine & Total Joint Center has its own entrance on the east side of the campus near our parking garage.

From southbound I-25, take the Lincoln Ave. exit west. Turn left on Park Meadows Blvd, and then, take your second left at the Sky Ridge Ave. light. Follow the signs to the Spine and Total Joint Center visitor parking on the east side of the hospital.

From northbound I-25, take the RidgeGate Parkway exit west. Turn right at the first hospital entrance and follow the signs to the Spine & Total Joint Center visitor parking on the east side of the hospital.

After you check in at the Spine & Total Joint Center information desk, you will be directed to the Women’s Atrium Classroom just down the hall.
