The Rocky Mountain Aneurysm & Bicuspid Aortic Valve Program
The Rocky Mountain Aneurysm & Bicuspid Aortic Valve Program at HealthONE (RMABAV) is committed to the highest level of cardiac care, research and technology to ensure that patients with BAV and/or aneurysm can lead healthy lives.
Due to the specific and evolving nature of thoracic aneurysm and bicuspid aortic valve, a physician’s expertise is critical for proper detection and diagnosis. Jason Sperling, MD, FACS brings his vast knowledge to the HealthONE Denver team as the Director of Cardiac Surgery and Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services. He holds extensive experience with the care of patients with BAV and thoracic aneurysm, having developed the largest active specialty registry in the state of New Jersey prior to relocating to Denver.
Dr. Sperling is experienced in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, including advanced mitral valve repair, off-pump coronary bypass surgery, multiple arterial grafting and cardiac re-operations. He is also highly involved in cardiac research and technology.
He actively cared for over 1,000 patients with these conditions, including both medical management and advanced surgical interventions, such as the ‘David’ procedure, aortic valve repair and complex aortic arch surgery.
Previously, Dr. Sperling was the principal investigator of three clinical trials and has patents granted and pending on devices related to the field of cardiac surgery. He has also pioneered a new minimally-invasive procedure for persistent forms of atrial fibrillation.
The primary goal of the RMABAV program is to prevent aneurysm and BAV related complications through educating and counseling our extended community on these genetic disorders. When intervention is indicated, we strive to employ the most modern and safe surgical techniques that are often not available elsewhere. We are committed to developing scientific research and technology that will continue to improve patient lives.
