For more than 115 years, Swedish Medical Center has been a Hampden Avenue landmark. The community of Englewood and the surrounding areas have been turning to Swedish not only for exceptional healthcare, but also for career opportunities. The team culture at Swedish is storied and unique: many of our colleagues were born at the hospital or have family history of employment. Below, we'd like to share a little bit about one of our amazing colleagues who is committed to our patients and community.

How long have you worked at Swedish?

Just under three years.

What do you love about working at Swedish?

I absolutely love the people I get to work with. I enjoy getting to meet all the wonderful people in every department!

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

I have always been inspired by medicine.  From an early age,  I knew I wanted to be in a career that incorporated medicine, but also made me feel purposeful. Nursing offered both!

Who has been the biggest influence on your career?

My father, he was my biggest support and influence to get where I am today. Regardless of the career path I chose, he was always there encouraging me to continue. He helped me grow my big dreams and always reminded me that we all have a purpose in this life. We lost my father about a year ago, but he told me how proud he was of me for being a nurse at least once a day- he will always be my inspiration.

What I want people to know about my current role or department:

Being a CNC on the Medical Acute Care Unit has helped me grow in so many ways, I learn something new just about every single day. I am thankful for my team, and the path this role has taken me.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Running, cycling, hiking with the dogs, cooking, camping, hanging out with my friends and family- basically anything outside!

If you had an unexpected day off, how would you spend it?

If it was during the summer, it would involve a trail run in the mountains, with some great snacks and a happy hour. If it was the winter, it would involve skiing in the mountains, also with some great snacks and a happy hour.

When you’re in the car by yourself, and no one is looking, what song do you turn up and sing?

I sing EVERY song in the car. Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, The Killers, Bon Jovi, Adele, Michael Jackson. Will it be in on key? Probably not. Will it be loud? Absolutely!
