High-risk pregnancy clinic
A high-risk pregnancy often requires the assistance of a specially trained doctor. At The Medical Center of Aurora, we have a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who cares for patients through our high-risk OB clinic. The clinic is open three days a week for high-risk pregnancy consultation, and the need for consultation is usually determined by your obstetrician.
Our high-risk pregnancy doctor consults with patients on:
- Complications that develop during pregnancy (such as preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction)
- Preexisting medical conditions (such as high blood pressure or thyroid disorders)
- Ultrasound evaluation of the fetus for congenital abnormalities and genetic testing

Labor and delivery suites
Our 14-suite labor and delivery unit is designed to be a comforting environment to promote health and healing. Each room is private and features:
- Birthing ball
- DVD/CD combination
- Fold-out sleeper bed
- High-speed wireless internet access
- Rocking chair
- Squat bar
Once labor begins, you will stay in the same room for the birth of your baby and through the first hours of your recovery. Afterward, you are moved to a private mom/baby suite where we continue to care for you and help you learn to care for your new baby.
Neonatal intensive care
If your baby requires specialized care after birth, we will care for them in our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Our NICU is staffed with neonatologists (doctors highly trained in caring for ill or premature newborns) and neonatal nurses who provide compassionate, 24/7 care and monitoring.
Postpartum care
In recovery, our family-centered postpartum support helps you bond with your baby and teaches you how to care for them. Families are encouraged to room-in with their babies, but our skilled nurses are available around-the-clock to assist in the care of your baby when you need a break.
If your baby requires additional milk supplementation while at the hospital, we have donor milk or formula available. We also offer hospital grade pumps for expressing your own milk to feed your baby.
If you have any questions, please call our lactation line at (303) 873-5812.

Outpatient pharmacy services
Your doctor may prescribe medication to help you recover from childbirth. Because of this, we offer convenient pharmacy services at our Outpatient Pharmacy. Here, you may order your medications, and we'll deliver them to your hospital room before discharge.
We hope this service makes your family's transition home easier and more convenient.
Mothers’ Milk Bank
A program of Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, Mothers’ Milk Bank(MMB) is one of 27 operating donor human milk banks in North America and consistently provides more milk to NICUs than any other nonprofit milk bank. The milk is sent to hundreds of different hospitals throughout the U.S., supplying milk to babies across the country who may be premature or have severe illnesses and need human milk to thrive.
Donating breast milk
The Medical Center of Aurora is a donation and outreach center for MMB. MMB safely screens, collects, processes and dispenses donated human milk as a community service, providing human milk to babies whose own mothers cannot supply the milk to meet their baby’s needs.
For more information, call Mothers’ Milk Bank at (303) 869-1888.
