Foot and ankle care

Foot and ankle pain or disorders can affect your mobility, making it uncomfortable to do normal, everyday tasks. Our doctors can help by providing comprehensive foot and ankle care for conditions ranging from toe deformities to fractured ankles. We take time to diagnose your condition and provide you with effective treatment options to get you back on your feet.

Hand and upper extremity care

Your arms and hands are complex structures made of many joints, bones, muscles and tendons. Because of this complexity, an injury or disorder of the arm or hand requires expert treatment to restore function and relieve pain.

We offer that level of care, providing specialized hand and upper extremity treatments for a wide range of conditions affecting the wrists, hands, elbows and shoulders. We will work with you to determine which treatment will work best for your condition and lifestyle.

Joint care

From arthritis to fractures, there are many conditions that may cause joint pain, but we can help. Our orthopedists, joint specialists, nurses and physical therapists are dedicated to improving the joint health of our patients.

Joint replacement surgery

Education and rehabilitation are critical components of the joint replacement recovery process. That is why our hospitals offer dedicated joint replacement patient care teams, preoperative education classes and occupational and physical therapy programs.

We offer the following joint replacement surgeries:

PERACare Select benefit for hip and knee replacements

HealthONE, in partnership with the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA), is proud to offer a benefit called PERACare Select. This benefit gives PERA retirees enrolled in the organization’s pre-Medicare program access to a fixed-price hip or knee replacement procedure.

This benefit is a critical step in helping to eliminate confusion around healthcare costs and addresses a significant need among retired workers. By taking advantage of the PERACare Select benefit, retirees could save as much as $13,000 in out-of-pocket costs.

Limb preservation program

Injuries and other conditions affecting an arm or leg can put a patient at for risk amputation. To provide patients with expert care, we offer a dedicated limb preservation program for complex limb conditions. Here, our orthopedic doctors collaborate with vascular surgeons, infectious disease specialists, plastic surgeons and other physicians to care for patients at risk of losing an arm or leg.

Orthopedic trauma care

Traumatic injuries require multidisciplinary care to ensure proper healing and to prevent future complications of the affected area. This type of comprehensive, specialty care is exactly what you will find at our hospitals. In fact, Swedish Medical Center is one of only a few facilities in the country with a team specialized in pelvic trauma.

Pediatric orthopedics

We also offer a pediatric orthopedic program at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, which focuses on returning kids to their active, normal lives.

Here, board-certified pediatric orthopedic doctors treat broken bones, growth plate disorders, movement disorders and other orthopedic conditions in children. Our team is known for expert medical care as well as their sensitivity to children's needs and feelings.

Spine care

From chronic back pain to scoliosis, our spine doctors have experience treating a variety of neck and spine conditions. Our goal is to alleviate our patient's pain and restore their mobility through comprehensive spine care.

This means we use conservative approaches to care whenever possible. However, if spine surgery is necessary, we use advanced techniques that shorten the recovery time. We also help patients recover after their procedure through rehabilitation.

Sports medicine

We offer sports medicine services, including concussion care, for kids and adults. Not only do our sports medicine specialists provide expert treatments, they take time to educate each patient on the safest ways to get back to their sport.

Treatment for limb pain after amputation

When a limb must be amputated, chronic limb pain after the amputation is common. To reduce this pain and restore a patient's quality of life after amputation, HealthONE offers an advanced procedure called targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR).

TMR involves orthopedic and/or vascular surgeons meticulously connecting each cut nerve to a nearby muscle nerve. By giving these nerves a place to transmit their signals, patients report reduced pain, including phantom limb pain and peripheral neuropathy. Patients also may have better control of their prosthesis after TMR.

At HealthONE we offer both primary or acute TMR (performed at the time of amputation) and secondary or delayed TMR (performed after a previous amputation). Our specialists treat both upper and lower extremity amputations—one of the few locations in the U.S. to offer these services.

Our multidisciplinary teams include surgeons, rehabilitation therapists, prosthetists, behavioral health experts and patient navigators who work with our patients to establish a unique treatment plan based on their individual needs.

HealthONE TMR programs are available at these locations:

  • The Medical Center of Aurora
  • Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center
  • Swedish Medical Center
