Brain surgery

Our experienced surgical teams and advanced technology enable us to provide advanced care for our patients. We provide surgical treatment for a variety of neurological conditions, including strokes, brain aneurysms and tumor removals. Through our partnership with Colorado Chiari Institute, we offer the following services and procedures:

Heart and vascular surgery

We offer a comprehensive program for heart surgery and vascular surgery. Our cardiovascular surgeons perform a wide range of procedures, including complex cardiac surgeries.

Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR)

TCAR is a new, innovative vascular procedure designed to reduce the risk of stroke or treat patients who have had strokes. During a TCAR procedure, a small incision (much smaller than a typical carotid endarterectomy incision) is used to place a stent in the artery.

We are one of the first hospitals in Colorado to offer the TCAR procedure and other minimally invasive treatment options for vascular disease.

Orthopedic and spine surgery

Our orthopedic and spine surgery program offers comprehensive orthopedic care, from preoperative assessment and education to follow-up care and rehabilitation.

We offer the following for patients:

  • Hand surgery
  • Targeted muscle reinnervation
  • Total hip replacement
  • Total knee replacement
  • Shoulder treatment
  • Spine rehabilitation
  • Spine surgery

Minimally invasive spine surgery

During a minimally invasive spine surgery, the surgeon makes a very small incision and uses specialized instruments to operate. The lasers are not used to cut or make the incisions but rather to remove tissue or tumors from the affected area.

Thoracic surgery

Our thoracic program provides advanced care for patients with thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, chest wall tumors and mediastinal masses. We use advanced, less invasive techniques, including video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and laparoscopic procedures.

Patients also have access to cutting-edge clinical trials through Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at The Medical Center of Aurora.

Advanced robot-assisted surgery

Our surgeons are committed to safely and efficiently getting our patients back to their lives. When possible, one of the ways we can do that is through minimally invasive robotic surgery.

During robotic surgery, the surgeon sits at a robotic system console several feet from the patient in the operating room. The surgeon views the body through a high-definition, 3D system while using hand controls to move robotic arms, which have been inserted strategically through small incisions. The robotic arms mirror the surgeon’s motions on a much smaller scale, providing the surgeon more accuracy and precision than the human hand alone.

Benefits of robotic surgery

Robotic surgery leads to a variety of benefits, including:

  • A shorter hospital stay
  • Faster return to normal daily activities
  • Fewer complications
  • Less pain and scarring
  • Reduced blood loss
  • Reduced risk of infection

Robotic surgeries we perform

Our doctors perform a variety of surgeries using robot-assisted technology, including:

  • Cholecystectomy
  • Esophagostomy
  • Gallbladder surgery
  • Hernia surgery
  • Hip replacement
  • Hysterectomy
  • Kidney surgery
  • Lobectomy
  • Myomectomy
  • Partial nephrectomy
  • Prostatectomy
  • Pyeloplasty
  • Thymectomy

Ask your doctor if robotic surgery is an option for you. Not all patients are candidates for robot-assisted surgery. Your doctor will consider your health history and current condition when assessing robotic surgery as a treatment option.

Outpatient pharmacy services

Your doctor may prescribe medication after your surgery. Because of this, we offer convenient pharmacy services at our Outpatient Pharmacy. Here, you may order your medications, and we'll deliver them to your hospital room before discharge.

We hope this service makes your transition home easier and more convenient.
