Physical therapy and rehabilitation at Centennial Hospital

At Centennial Hospital, we understand that care doesn’t end when the surgery or procedure ends. Many patients require additional support to help them get back to living healthy, active lives. Our physical therapy and rehabilitation program offers convenient inpatient and outpatient services to support patients throughout recovery and beyond. We work collaboratively with other experts on your behalf to provide comprehensive, coordinated support.

Physical, occupational and speech therapy is available seven days a week,
24 hours a day.

Cognitive evaluations

Our providers are skilled at providing cognitive evaluations for patients who are recovering from a neurological event (such as a stroke) or a head injury. The evaluation typically includes many short tests that assess attention, memory, reasoning and thinking. It is designed to discover subtle changes that cannot be seen on imaging tests.

Occupational therapy

After an injury or surgery, many patients find they have new temporary or permanent limits in performing everyday tasks and living independently. Our program provides support, education and tools for patients so they can better perform activities of daily living. We often provide support for self-care, fine motor skills, use of adaptive equipment, safety and home modifications and neuromuscular reeducation.

Outpatient therapy programs

Some patients may benefit from ongoing therapy after hospital discharge. We provide programs designed to meet these patient needs in a comfortable, convenient setting.

Physical therapy

Our physical therapy program offers convenient access to experts who help patients restore and maintain function and movement lost due to a health condition, surgery or injury. Using medically supervised exercises, we manage and treat the musculoskeletal system, bones and joints. Exercises often include cardiovascular, strength and endurance training. We also provide manual therapy techniques.

Speech therapy

Our speech language pathologists work with patients who have had an injury or condition that affects the ability to communicate or swallow. We provide bedside swallow evaluations as well as modified barium swallow studies to help create an accurate diagnosis. We also provide customized support for patients to help them relearn swallowing or communicating. We want patients to regain speech at the highest level and focus on fluency, articulation and voice quality.

Total joint pre-op class

When it comes to a joint replacement surgery, preparation is key. Experts have found that patients who are active participants in their care and recovery programs often have better outcomes. We provide a total joint pre-op class designed to educate and prepare patients for their upcoming surgeries. We will cover what to expect before and after your procedure as well as plans for your recovery and rehabilitation.

Wound care

Our experts assist patients with acute, chronic or non-healing wounds using advanced techniques and procedures. We work as a team with case managers, diabetes educators and your physician to work toward healing and recovery.

Physical therapy and rehabilitation at HealthONE

Rehabilitation refers to the process of helping a patient recover from a serious injury or illness. Patients often have to regain strength and learn new ways of completing normal, daily activities. Physical therapy, a branch of rehabilitation, focuses on building strength and mobility after disease, injury or surgery.
