Our Sky Ridge Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation team offers specialized one-on-one attention and personal care to adults and children. We believe in an active, wellness approach to your care. Your therapist's role is to teach you strategies for recovery so you can continue to heal long after you have left the hospital. To do this, and to ensure you receive the individualized care that is right for you, we offer a variety of therapeutic services.
Occupational therapy
Our team of occupational therapists provides a variety of services that enable you to return to everyday activities. These services include:
- Activities of daily living training
- Functional deficit care related to stroke
- Pre- and postsurgical hand and upper extremity rehabilitation
- Traumatic brain injury and concussion therapy

Physical therapy
Our physical therapy specialists provide medically supervised exercises that help you restore function and maintain maximum movement. Your physical therapy regimen may include cardiovascular exercise, strength training, endurance exercises and manual therapy techniques. Cancer rehabilitation
As part of our comprehensive approach to cancer care, our cancer exercise program provides a unique opportunity for patients to participate in a customized exercise program. The goal is to improve your quality of life by reducing fatigue and boosting your immune system during and after cancer treatment.
A therapist will work with you to develop a program to fit your needs. This program does require your physician's approval and is usually covered by insurance benefits. We also incorporate speech therapy for patients who have been diagnosed with head and neck cancer. This provides speech or swallowing exercises and education to address deficits in these abilities.
Lymphedema program
Our lymphedema program includes preventive services for post-surgical and post-radiology patients who are at high risk of developing lymphedema. Other services of this program include:
- Bandaging and appropriate garment selection
- Exercise and self-care instruction
- Manual lymph drainage techniques
- Manual therapy techniques for scar tissue
- Patient education
What is lymphedema?
Lymphedema is chronic swelling in the arm, leg, chest or back due to accumulation of protein-rich, lymph fluid. This is the result of an obstruction of the venous or lymphatic systems. Left untreated, lymphedema can lead to limited mobility, decreased strength and decreased range of motion.
Visiting our facility
Sky Ridge Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is conveniently located on the east side of the hospital's campus. We have our own private entrance and parking.
Our hours of operation are 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
