HCA HealthONE hospitals' Month of Service: Caring like family
Caring like family extends beyond the hospital walls. During this year's Month of Service, HCA HealthONE hospitals and colleagues provided support to our communities in an effort to live our mission.
At HCA HealthONE, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. This year, our Month of Service (MOS) events were a testament to our commitment to connecting our hospitals and colleagues with non-profit partners to serve and support our communities as we Care Like Family and serve as ONE.
Throughout the month, our dedicated teams participated in a variety of impactful projects. At the Ronald McDonald House, our colleagues cooked and served meals, bringing comfort and nourishment to families in need. With Wish for Wheels, we built bicycles for underserved children, giving them the joy and freedom of riding their very own bikes.
Our partnership with Mile High United Way saw us assembling school supply, teacher appreciation and basic needs kits to support our community. We also worked with Project Cure to create kits for kids that provide personal hygiene and basic “medicine cabinet” items that are scarce in under-resourced communities and children impacted by crisis.
Volunteering at the Food Bank of the Rockies, our teams helped sort and distribute food for those facing hunger in our community. At the City of Thornton's Harvest Fest, we joined in the festivities while also lending a helping hand to ensure the event's success.
Because we know that 150,000 children in Colorado live in food-insecure households and one in six are unsure where they will get their next meal, we worked with Backpack Society to pack bags of easy-to-prepare meals for kids to take home over the weekend, ensuring they have access to nutritious food. Additionally, we volunteered at Food For Thought, helping to assemble food “PowerSacks” to distribute food to children and families in need, so that no child goes hungry on the weekends.
To support our older population, we partnered with Nourish Meals on Wheels to assemble food trays so they could deliver healthy meals to older adults who might otherwise go without.
Our efforts extended to cleaning up Denver's Lindsley Park, where we worked together to create a cleaner, safer environment for everyone to enjoy. We also partnered with Kits for Kids to assemble kits containing everyday essentials, clothes, toys, and a stuffed animal, bringing smiles and comfort to children in need.
By serving and volunteering, we not only made a positive impact on our communities but also strengthened our bonds with each other. These experiences remind us of the importance of compassion, teamwork, and the difference we can make when we come together with a shared purpose.
As we reflect on this year's Month of Service, we are inspired by the dedication and generosity of our colleagues. Together, we are making a meaningful difference and truly living our mission to care for and improve human life.
