The Burn and Reconstructive Center at Swedish Medical Center
is a comprehensive program providing burn and reconstructive care for adults and children. Verification by the American Burn Association, recognizes the high quality of care we provide to our patients from the time of injury through reconstruction and rehabilitation.

The Burn and Reconstructive Center is located at Swedish Medical Center, HealthONE’s Level I Trauma Center serving patients throughout the greater Rocky Mountain region. The specially trained multidisciplinary team, facility resources, organizational structure and program services provide excellent family-centered care from point of injury to rehabilitation.

The Burn and Reconstructive Center includes:

  • 8-bed burn intensive care unit
  • 8-bed pediatric intensive care unit
  • 20-bed burn and reconstructive care unit
  • 2 dedicated operating rooms
  • Outpatient burn and reconstructive clinic

Specialized care for burns, wounds, traumatic injuries and reconstruction

All program physicians, led by medical director Dr. Benson Pulikkottil, are double board-certified in plastic and hand surgery, offering a unique surgical perspective on burns, frostbite, skin sloughing disorders, necrotizing tissue disorders and complex traumatic limb, extremity, nerve and wound injuries. With enhanced skills, the surgical team is nationally recognized for innovative techniques and surgical outcomes for their patients.

Additionally, our skilled multidisciplinary team of nurses, therapists and clinicians provides the best care possible for your loved one from point of injury to rehabilitation and aftercare.

Our goal is to minimize the lasting impact of traumatic injuries. To do this, we offer reconstructive treatment services tailored to each patient’s needs. Our program provides 24/7 coverage by surgeons specially trained in burn and reconstructive care.

Outpatient burn and reconstructive clinic

As part of the Burn and Reconstructive Center, our outpatient clinic offers a variety of advanced treatments and therapy options for patients of any age. The clinic is open five days a week, Monday through Friday, for both scheduled and walk-in appointments.

Expanded services in northern Colorado

The center continues to expand its network of care, including a partnership to provide acute burn services to Banner Health in northern Colorado.

The Burn and Reconstructive Center at Swedish Medical Center has opened the Outpatient Burn Clinic, located at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. We are excited to offer expanded services and high-quality care to the surrounding community.

Additionally, and in collaboration with HealthONE’s Virtual Network, burn telehealth services are in development to bring the best burn care to communities without local burn treatment resources.

Support services for survivors, families, and loved ones

Healing after a burn injury can be a lifelong journey of physical, emotional, and social recovery. The Burn and Reconstructive Center at Swedish Medical Center is dedicated to supporting you through this process.

The burn center offers virtual support group services, crisis counseling, outpatient counseling and rehabilitation and aftercare support programs through the Phoenix Society.
