The DAISY Foundation is an international recognition program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary, compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. We are proud to recognize Kaylee Yourkowski, RN, Ambulatory Care Unit, with this special honor.
In nominating Kaylee, one of her patients wrote, “I’ve had to stay in the ACU 12 times from fall of 2022 until now. Kaylee has always been such a welcome face to see in the recovery room. You can tell she genuinely cares for her patients. This last time I was in, she even remembered that I like to know how many ml of everything was used by my surgeon and had it written down and ready for me before I even woke up. I was also the last patient in the ACU that day yet never felt rushed to get up and out of there. Another thing I really appreciate about Kaylee is that she doesn’t make me feel pressured into taking any of the medications that are recommended to me. For some reason, I just don’t like the side effects of the anti-nausea medicines although I do get nauseous on the drive home. She’s one of the only nurses to ever show me another option than the meds. She gave me some packets of alcohol wipes and told me that sometimes just getting a whiff of it would reduce the nausea, and it did! I made it home multiple times without having to take the meds because of that and it’s really important to me to be given med alternatives after having so much in my body already. Overall, Kaylee has a wonderful bedside manner, is so patient, and a truly thoughtful member of the Swedish medical team. It takes a lot for me to appreciate anything on surgery days because it's such a traumatic, stressful situation no matter what, but somehow Kaylee puts a bow on the day so nicely.”
Thank you, Kaylee, for exemplifying our promise to Care Like Family.
