HCA HealthONE Swedish Colleague Spotlight
For more than 100 years, HCA HealthONE Swedish has been a Hampden Avenue landmark. The community of Englewood and the surrounding areas have been turning to Swedish not only for exceptional healthcare, but also for career opportunities. The team culture at Swedish is storied and unique: Many of our colleagues were born at the hospital or have family history of employment. Below, we'd like to share a few of the stories of our amazing colleagues who we have had the privilege to work alongside and care like family.
How long have you worked at Swedish?
I've been at Swedish for 3 months now, I started in January 2023.
What do you love about working at Swedish?
The thing I love most about Swedish is the interdisciplinary collaboration while providing quality care for all patients. Every colleague I've come into contact with while working at Swedish has been kind, professional, and understanding - I'm proud to consider myself a member of Swedish's staff.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I've always had a passion for science, movement, and helping others. Once I heard about occupational therapy I knew it was for me. I enjoy getting to know my patients and helping them regain their independence with their self care, roles, and mobility throughout their healing process.
Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
I've always had a passion for science, movement, and helping others. Once I heard about occupational therapy I knew it was for me. I enjoy getting to know my patients and helping them regain their independence with their self care, roles, and mobility throughout their healing process.
What I want people to know about my current role or department:
As an occupational therapist we are able to evaluate and treat more than just self care deficits; we also address problem solving, safety awareness, coordination, sensory perception, vision, splinting, lymphedema, and so much more. If you have a patient that you think could benefit from occupational therapy services please refer us in.
If you had an unexpected day off, how would you spend it?
Going to a coffee shop for a coffee and a pastry, then on a hike, and finally reading a book for the remainder of the day while watching the sunset over the mountains from my porch.
When you're in the car by yourself, and no one is looking, what song do you turn up and sing?
Hey Ya! by Outkast, that song never gets old!
Where did you grow up and what's your favorite thing about that place?
I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY — my favorite things about Buffalo are the chicken wings and pizza, the Buffalo Bills, and the community!
