Englewood, CO — The World Health Organization now recognizes burnout as an occupational phenomenon. It's described as a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress. Emily Belfoure, a nurse on the critical care unit at Swedish Medical Center, leads an important effort to support our caregivers and combat burnout through Schwartz Rounds.

Schwartz Rounds offer caregivers the opportunity to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings on thought-provoking topics drawn from actual patient cases. The premise is that caregivers are better able to make personal connections with patients and colleagues when they have greater insight into their own responses and feelings. Kumasi Aaron with Denver7 news visited Swedish to learn more.
