Maternity classes we offer

Classes can begin at any time in your pregnancy. However, we recommend completing your maternity classes four to six weeks before your due date. Remember to register for classes early to ensure the classes you want are available.

Some of the classes we offer include:

All about baby

All about baby specifically addresses the first uncertain week at home with your
newborn. The in-person class is designed to familiarize you with the characteristics of normal newborn behavior, appearance and baby care. Hands-on practice with diapering, bathing and swaddling are included. Infant CPR and breastfeeding are not included. Only the mom/parent-to-be needs to register.

Breast/chestfeeding basics

Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding Basics is a one-time class valuable to those who plan to breast/chest feed their babies. We provide a positive and safe setting to talk about breast/chest feeding. In this class we will discuss the benefits of breastmilk, how milk is produced, feeding techniques, and how to avoid common problems.

We also offer an Understanding Breastfeeding eClass. In this online class, you will learn all about breastfeeding and get to hear real experiences from breastfeeding moms—all from the comfort of your own home.

Childbirth express

Childbirth express is a one day "just the facts" class is intended for those who want the basics or who are unable to attend the longer series. Please note that Cesarean birth and relaxation/breathing techniques are covered briefly. This class is held in person for mom/parent and her/their support person. Only mom/parent needs to register.

Childbirth preparation

The Childbirth Preparation Series consists of four classes, which take place over a period of four weeks. In this series, we will discuss comfort techniques, medical procedures and the stages of labor and delivery.

Can't come to a childbirth class? We'll bring it to you! We also offer an Understanding Birth eClass. This class is online and can be taken at any time. Learn more. Understanding Birth eClass is also available in Spanish (Entendiendo el Nacimiento Español eClass).
