Colleague Spotlight: Erin Tubbs, RN — Surgical Cardiology
HCA HealthONE Swedish Colleague Spotlight
For more than 100 years, HCA HealthONE Swedish has been a Hampden Avenue landmark. The community of Englewood and the surrounding areas have been turning to Swedish not only for exceptional healthcare, but also for career opportunities. The team culture at Swedish is storied and unique: Many of our colleagues were born at the hospital or have family history of employment. Below, we’d like to share a few of the stories of our amazing colleagues who we have had the privilege to work alongside and care like family.
How long have you worked at Swedish?
2 years.
What do you love about working at Swedish?
The culture, and I think you’ll hear a lot of people say that. I also think it’s a great place to be able to grow and try new things!
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
Everyone needs help sometimes, and it takes a caring and compassionate person to be able to do that. Being a nurse helps keep me grounded through all the new people and experiences I am able to have.
Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
My parents have always been super supportive and encouraging when it came to me going to school and doing what I wanted. As long as they’re proud of me and support me I know I can achieve as much as I want.
What do you want people to know about my current role or department?
You will learn a lot quickly, education is limitless. If you can understand the heart, you can understand a lot of concepts. Being a step-down unit is a great place for people who enjoy complex patients but also enjoy them being awake.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love to be outside (hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking). I’m a big reader, and a basketball coach.
If you had an unexpected day off, how would you spend it?
Probably read, go to the gym, and just spend time by myself or with my mom.
When you're in the car by yourself, and no one is looking, what song do you turn up and sing?
Hotel ugly — shut up my mom's calling.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Golden, CO small town that’s close to the city with a lot of space and things to do outdoors.
What is your go-to Starbucks, Dutch Bros., or coffee cart order?
Starbucks — toffee nut latte; Dutch Bros — OG Gummy bear green tea half sweet; Coffee Cart — lavender green tea.
Where did you grow up and what's your favorite thing about that place?
Aurora, CO — diversity and I grew up on the outskirts and I always appreciated the quiet and space.
What is a pet peeve of yours?
Complacency.
If money weren't a factor, what would you be doing right now?
Traveling and coming to work PRN as a hobby while managing investment properties.
Share a fun fact about you or anything you would like your Swedish colleagues to know.
I have a chronically subluxing shoulder.
