Nursing Professional Practice Model (PPM)
What is a PPM?
A Professional Practice Model (PPM) can be defined as a system, made up of structure, process, and values, that provides the foundation for professionals to control how patient care is delivered and in what environment. It is a visual graphic of the often invisible work of nursing and clinical care.
Why Do We Need a PPM?
Through use of the PPM, we ensure professional practice is consistent, regardless of where it takes place in our complex organization. The PPM is a communication tool that helps others (new hires, colleagues, the community) know what is important to us; it helps us communicate our culture and what we stand for.
Elements of the Rose PPM
The Outer Layer
The Outer Layer includes foundational elements that surround everything we do:
Mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
Relationship-Based Care: Rose’s chosen Care Delivery Model. We achieve quality, financial, and organizational outcomes through relationships.
HCA Logo: The HCA Logo has unique significance. The diamond in the center represents the patients we serve. Surrounding the patient is our legacy, our scale, innovation, and partnership.
The Rose Aleph
Aleph (pronounced “ah-lef”) is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabel. Aleph means, “Truth.” Placing this symbol in the center of our PPM is a nod to our history and roots in Jewish tradition.
The Stars of the Compass
The words on the stars of the compass are the six dimensions of Relationship-based Care, plus the phrases “Rewards & Recognition” and “Culture.”
Teamwork: We work together. Each of us contributes meaningfully and, as a multidisciplinary team, we achieve the best patient outcomes and experiences.
Professional Practice: We unlock possibilities. We eagerly embrace the challenges of our profession and welcome new opportunities to grow and make a positive impact.
Leadership: We raise the bar. What matters most to us is giving people the absolute best healthcare possible. We never settle for status quo. All are empowered to act in the best interest of the patient.
Rewards & Recognition: Our work is meaningful. At Rose, we all benefit from a job well done through multiple programs and benefits.
Culture: We care like family. Just like a family, we pull together to care for, support, and celebrate with patients and each other.
Outcomes: We exist to give people a healthier tomorrow. This is achieved through thoughtful investigation, adoption of evidence-based practices, and dedication to continual improvement.
Care Delivery: Relationship-based Care is our Care Delivery Model. Through our relationships with each other, our patients & families, and ourselves, we achieve quality, financial, and organizational outcomes.
Resources: We are conscientious stewards of resources; we consistently strive to provide the best, high-quality care responsibly.
