This means the Rose Heart & Vascular Center has a higher level of expertise when treating patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack. To achieve the PCI designation, Rose Medical Center demonstrated the availability of a call team comprised of a cardiac cath lab staff and an interventional cardiologist who is on-call and available 24 hours a day.

Diagnosing heart conditions

To determine the severity of your heart condition, our team has many different testing options available, including:

  • Arrhythmia assessments
  • Carotid ultrasounds
  • Coronary calcium scans
  • Echocardiograms
  • Risk assessments from in vitro fertilization (IVF)
  • Stress tests

Cardiac treatments and services we offer

Our heart hospital provides innovative treatments to ensure you get the cardiovascular care you need. For example:

  • We were the first in Colorado to offer balloon angioplasty treatment for peripheral artery disease (PAD).
  • Our physician team is also the only team in the Western U.S. to offer the convergent procedure, a groundbreaking procedure for patients with chronic AFib.
  • We are also among the few hospitals in Colorado to offer a left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) implant. This alternative to long-term warfarin reduces AFib stroke risk and may eliminate the need for blood thinners in people with non-valvular AFib.

Cardiac Alert program

Our Cardiac Alert program saves lives. Paramedics respond to a 911 emergency call and, based on the symptoms identified, local emergency medical service (EMS) responders will launch the Cardiac Alert to signal our teams. This team consists of emergency medicine doctors, the cardiac cath lab clinicians and our expert cardiologists. They assemble and prepare to receive you as quickly as possible once you arrive. The second you arrive at our hospital, you are taken directly to the cardiac cath lab with one goal: to open up blocked arteries as quickly as possible.

Cardio-oncology

We are committed to the specialized field of cardio-oncology. While cancer treatments can be lifesaving, they can also leave a lasting impact on your heart and vascular system. When a heart concern is added to the stress of cancer treatment, many patients feel overwhelmed. Our dedicated cardiologists work with your medical oncology treatment team to ensure cardiac needs are met from diagnosis through survivorship.

Our cardiologists provide comprehensive cardiac assessments, imaging, and education. Our services include any combination of the following:

  • Any heart care needs that arise during treatment
  • Follow up for high-risk situations
  • Preexisting cardiovascular condition treatment and management
  • Regular monitoring during treatment
  • Risk factor assessment
  • Treatment for cancer survivors with cardiac damage

Many cardiovascular conditions can be treated with minimally invasive procedures. From time to time, however, a more advanced surgical approach is necessary. The Heart and Vascular Center at Rose Medical Center provides both options. Along with our cardiology and critical care team, we will be a partner in your path to optimal cardiac care.
