Comprehensive cancer care

Our multidisciplinary oncology team takes a comprehensive approach to cancer care. They collaborate with other specialists at our hospital to ensure you receive an accurate diagnosis. Our team will work one-on-one with each patient to create an individualized treatment plan that is right for them.

Additionally, North Suburban Medical Center is proud to be affiliated with the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network. Through this affiliation, we are able to refer patients to some of Greater Denver’s leading oncology specialists for advanced cancer care.

Preventive cancer care

Early detection of cancer is one of the most important ways to increase the likelihood of a positive outcome. Our team is dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection through education and screenings.

If you are interested in a cancer screening not listed here, North Suburban Medical Center can connect you to one of our network specialists who provides access to that cancer screening.

Breast cancer screening

To help patients maintain their breast health, our hospitals offer mammograms to screen for breast cancer. Mammogram screenings use low-dose X-ray imaging technology to examine breast tissue and detect any abnormalities.

Colon cancer screening

One of the most common screening tools to evaluate gastrointestinal health and detect colon cancer is a colonoscopy. During a colonoscopy, doctors use a long, thin tube attached to a camera to view the colon and look for any polyps (abnormal tissue growths).

Lung cancer screening

To screen for lung cancer, our doctors will order a low-dose computed tomography (CT) scan. CT is a specialized type of X-ray that generates a detailed view of the organs and tissues in the body. It allows doctors to view any potential tumors or growths in the lungs.

Services and treatments we offer

To ensure patients receive the individualized care they need, we offer specialty services and treatments for cancer care.

Breast cancer program

Our doctors know that early detection—coupled with early treatment—of breast tumors are the most powerful tools to restore breast health. As a part of HealthONE's Colorado Total Breast Care network, we are home to a program that is recognized by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Our breast cancer team is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to patients.

Our team includes:

  • Breast cancer navigators
  • Breast radiologists
  • Breast surgeons
  • Medical oncologists
  • Radiation oncologists
  • Reconstructive surgeons

We use the following to diagnose and treat breast cancer:

  • Radiation therapy
  • Surgery
  • Sentinel lymph node biopsy
  • Wire-free radar localization

Breast reconstruction

For women who have undergone a total mastectomy or major lumpectomy, breast reconstruction surgery may help restore your breasts. Our experts in breast reconstruction can discuss the option available to you including breast conservation surgery and lumpectomy with matching reduction.

Oncology nurse navigator

Our oncology nurse navigator provides the support patients need from cancer diagnosis to recovery. They will connect patients with education, nutritional support, psychologists and our resources for continuity of care, which leads to better outcomes.

To speak to our nurse navigator, please call (303) 453-2578

Surgical oncology

When cancer is detected, one option for treatment is the surgical removal of the tumor. As part of a multidisciplinary team, our surgeons work together to determine which treatment is best for you and your family. If the decision is made to proceed with surgery, our doctors specialize in the removal of breast, gastrointestinal and urologic cancers. When necessary, we refer out to other specialists in our network to ensure you receive the care you need.
