Multidisciplinary approach to cancer care
At Rose Medical Center, members of our oncology department—from all disciplines of cancer care—gather on a weekly basis for case conferences. During these meetings, we discuss patient cases and create individualized, multidisciplinary treatment plans for our patients. The goal is to work together to ensure you receive the most effective treatment plan possible.
Our team includes specialists from the following backgrounds:
Specialty programs and services
To ensure each patient receives effective, individualized care, we offer a variety of specialty programs and services at our hospital.
Cancer clinical trials
Our experienced cancer care team is always exploring advanced treatment options as well as innovative techniques for the detection and prevention of cancer. Sometimes, traditional or standard therapies are not effective for more complex cancers, which is why we continue to explore clinical trials.
Clinical trials are research studies conducted to answer important medical and scientific questions with the ultimate goal of finding better ways to treat diseases. They are used to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new or investigational drugs, combinations of new and/or existing drugs and drug delivery methods.
Access to newer treatments is offered in the hopes that the new treatments will be more effective than standard treatments and offer hope to patients who may not be responding to existing therapies.
Sarah Cannon Cancer Research Institute at HealthONE, an early phase clinical trials unit, offers personalized cutting-edge cancer research for the Rocky Mountain region. To learn more about active trials, call (720) 754-2610 or search for clinical trials.

Surgical oncology
When cancer is detected, one option for treatment is the surgical removal of the tumor. We provide access to expert surgeons who are experienced in using advanced procedures for cancer treatment.
At Rose Medical Center, we strive to be the forefront of surgical advancements, techniques and technologies to continually provide our patients with the best care possible.
Depending on the tumor site, patients may be offered numerous surgical options, which will be reviewed in the initial consult. The surgeon will work with the rest of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care from diagnosis through to recovery.
When possible, we use minimally invasive surgical techniques and advanced anesthesia protocols to provide many benefits to patients, including less scarring, a shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery.
Oncology rehabilitation
Our cancer patients are referred to our oncology rehabilitation program. While you may think of rehabilitation after completing your treatments, we encourage all patients to “prehab” with oncology rehabilitation. This helps determine baseline measurements, detect potential functional impairments, allow for early treatment and intervention and develop a postoperative care plan for rehab.
At our on-site Oncology Rehab clinic, you can receive physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy at any stage of your cancer treatment. We aim to ease symptoms, increase function, and improve quality of life through the program.
Fully customized to your unique needs, aspects of cancer rehabilitation include:
- Battling cancer-related fatigue
- Energy conservation
- Fall prevention
- Improving balance
- Improving memory and thinking
- Overcoming weakness
- Walking and stair safety
Patients participate in one-on-one therapies with highly experienced physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists.
