Diagnosis and treatment with cardiac catheterization

Cardiac catheterization is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure to study how well your heart is working. It involves passing a catheter (a thin, flexible tube) through your blood vessels to reach and examine your heart. We use this procedure to enable our cardiologists to diagnose (and sometimes treat) structural heart problems or cardiovascular diseases. This allows us to develop the best course of treatment for your unique needs.

Some cardiac catheterization diagnostic and interventional procedures we perform include:

  • 3D echocardiogram
  • Cardioversion
  • Heart biopsy
  • Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD)
  • Intravascular ultrasound
  • Pacemaker
  • Pericardiocentesis
  • Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)
  • Stents
  • Tilt table

Vascular treatment center and program

Our vascular surgeons are experienced in treating the full spectrum of vascular diseases and disorders. This includes everything from peripheral artery disease (PAD) to aortic aneurysms.

Our vascular program includes:

  • 24/7 vascular surgeon coverage
  • Advanced surgical procedures, such as peripheral vascular occlusion, peripheral vascular bypass and arterial access
  • Interventional technology for enhanced capacity to rapidly treat major trauma and hemorrhage
  • Minimally invasive techniques for major vascular conditions
  • The only hybrid OR suite in the area

Minimally invasive surgery for vascular disease

Our vascular surgeons perform minimally invasive surgery whenever possible. This type of surgery requires smaller incisions and instruments, which results in less scarring, fewer complications and, ultimately, a faster recovery for the patient.

Our hybrid operating room (OR) suite

Sky Ridge Medical Center’s hybrid OR suite enables our vascular surgeons and care team to perform more complex vascular surgeries. We are proud to be the only hospital in the area offering this level of care.

The OR is special because it combines the capabilities of a traditional OR with advanced imaging equipment. It allows vascular surgeons to perform both interventional procedures and more complex surgeries in the same location.
